Protected Silver Plano Mirror, 450nm-20.0μm
Borofloat 33 is a high-grade borosilicate glass with low thermal expansion and outstanding thermal shock resistance, making it an excellent substrate for diverse optical reflection components.
Tuniu protected silver plane mirrors feature silver coatings on Borofloat 33 and UV-grade fused silica (UVFS) substrates, overlaid with a silicon dioxide dielectric coating to effectively suppress silver film oxidation. While the silica overcoat provides reliable anti-tarnish protection, these mirrors are not suitable for high-temperature or high-humidity conditions. Harsh ambient conditions may compromise the protective layer, leading to silver oxidation and gradual performance degradation.
This composite coating delivers superior broadband reflectivity across infrared bands, alongside stable performance in visible and near-infrared regions. It achieves an average reflectivity above 96% from 450–1100 nm and over 98.5% in the 1.1–20 μm range. With extremely low intrinsic group delay dispersion (GDD) across the operating spectrum, it is perfectly suited for beam deflection in femtosecond laser systems.
The silver-coated UVFS version with a silica dielectric protective layer provides average reflectivity of more than 97% at 450–2000 nm and over 95% within 2.0–20 μm.
Precautions
Metal thin films are inherently sensitive to long-term air exposure, high humidity, and corrosive gases, which may trigger oxidation and impair optical performance. This product is categorized as a consumable optical component.To preserve optimal performance and service life, please follow the handling and storage guidelines below:
- Always use and store the product in a clean, dry environment.
- Wear gloves during operation to avoid direct contact with the optical surface.
- Prevent mechanical damage; scratches and abrasions will accelerate coating oxidation and delamination.
- Seal and store mirrors in the original protective case when not in temporary use.
