Germanium(Ge) Windows
Germanium (Ge) Windows are high-precision plane-parallel optical plates, primarily utilized as protective cover windows for electronic sensors and environmental detection devices. Key selection parameters such as substrate material, spectral transmittance, transmission wavelength range, surface figure, surface quality and parallelism should be fully considered to match actual optical system demands.
Germanium is a mainstream optical material for infrared applications, featuring a broad transmission range from 2.0 μm to 16 μm, high refractive index and excellent Knoop hardness. With outstanding chemical inertness against air, moisture, acids and alkalis, germanium is well suited for thermal imaging and infrared imaging under harsh working conditions. It serves as a reliable substrate for various optical components, including lenses and protective windows.
Tuniu Optics supplies germanium windows in both uncoated and anti-reflection coated versions, including double-sided IR2 (8–12 μm) broadband AR coated windows for standard infrared systems.
Note: Germanium material is toxic. Please wear protective gloves during handling and wash hands thoroughly after use.
