Germanium Plano Convex (PCX) Lenses are high-performance optical lenses fabricated with premium germanium as the core substrate. As a mainstream optical material dedicated for infrared systems, germanium features a broad transmission spectrum ranging from 2.0 μm to 16 μm, accompanied by a high refractive index and excellent Knoop hardness. Boasting outstanding chemical inertness against air, water, acid and alkali corrosion, germanium is well-suited for thermal imaging and infrared imaging applications operating in harsh working environments. It serves as an ideal base material for a full range of optical components, including lenses and optical windows.
Featuring a positive focal length with a standard plano-convex structure — one flat side and one convex side — germanium PCX lenses are primarily applied for aiming and focusing monochromatic light sources. When combined with other optical lenses, they enable diversified optical applications such as beam shaping, collimation, expansion and compression. Tuniu Optics offers germanium PCX lenses in various standard sizes and focal lengths, with optional uncoated and anti-reflection (AR) coated versions. The customized broadband AR coating is optimized for the IR2 infrared waveband of 8–12 μm to meet diverse spectral and application demands.
