Wire Grid Polarizer, 400-1100 nm
A wire grid polarizer transmits light whose electric field vector is perpendicular to the grid lines, and reflects light polarized parallel to the wire grid. It features a sandwich structure, with the metallic wire grid array sandwiched and protected by two ultraviolet fused silica substrates. Compared with conventional absorptive polymer polarizers, wire grid polarizers provide higher transmittance, superior temperature resistance and a higher laser-induced damage threshold, making them ideal for high-power continuous-wave lasers and ultra-high peak power pulsed laser applications.
Since bare metal wire grids are easily damaged, Tuniu adopts a double-window protection design. The outer surfaces of the fused silica windows are coated with 400–1100 nm anti-reflection coatings, allowing routine wiping and cleaning without risk of damaging the internal wire grid structure.
The polarizer is assembled in a blackened aluminum alloy mount with an outer diameter of 25.4 mm. The polarization axis of transmitted light is laser marked on the ring. The integrated mounting design avoids wavefront distortion caused by assembly stress, and enables easy installation into free-rotating or coaxial rotating mounts for flexible application.
Precautions
The special metal film material is susceptible to oxidation under long-term exposure to air, high humidity or chemically corrosive environments, which may degrade optical performance; this product is classified as a consumable item. To maintain performance and service life, please comply with the following guidelines:
- Store and use in a clean, dry environment.
- Always wear gloves during handling to avoid direct contact with optical surfaces.
- Prevent surface scratches and abrasions, which will accelerate oxidation and delamination.
- Seal and store in the original protective case when not in use.

The line grid polarizer provided by Tuniu is composed of two ultraviolet fused silica window plates to protect the metal line grid array layer, and the outer surface of the window plate is coated with corresponding antireflection film. The aperture of Ø10 mm and Ø20 mm are optional, and the working band covers 400-1100 nm. The extinction ratio within the working band exceeds 1000: 1.
