UVFS Positive Meniscus Lenses, Uncoated/AR250-1700nm
UV grade fused silica positive meniscus (convex-concave) lenses are thicker at the center than at the edge and converge incident light rays. Designed to minimize third-order spherical aberration, they are often combined with other lenses to shorten the effective focal length and increase the numerical aperture (NA). When focusing a collimated beam, the convex side should face the light source for optimal spherical aberration reduction. Since the concave surface curvature of the positive meniscus lens is larger than the radius of the convex surface, it is capable of forming real images.
Compared with H-K9L optical glass, UV fused silica features a broader transmission spectrum ranging from 185 nm to 2.1 μm and exhibits excellent transmittance in the ultraviolet band. It has a lower refractive index, superior optical homogeneity, and a smaller coefficient of thermal expansion. Meanwhile, it offers outstanding chemical resistance and extremely low fluorescence, making it suitable for fabricating a wide range of optical components.
